If you are like me and love a good mozzarella stick, you have come to the right place.
I have included the best side dishes that go well with mozzarella sticks and just how to make them.
While many use mozzarella cheese, they can be made with string cheese and only take 10 minutes.
For an easy entrée to share with friends while watching a movie. They even work for a party platter.
Mozzarella sticks are my go-to for easy and enjoyable snacks.
What Goes Good With Mozzarella Sticks?
Mozzarella sticks go well with plain old tomato ketchup. You can spice it up a little with marinara sauce. Barbecue sauce can be used but isn’t as popular as honey mustard sauce, jalapeno jelly, and plum sauce. Cubed cheese on a platter also works with mozzarella sticks, including cheddar, provolone, and edam.
What Exactly Are Mozzarella Sticks
The mozzarella sticks are a great appetizer popular at parties and family gatherings.
Mozzarella sticks are long slices of cheese that are covered in breadcrumbs mixed with herbs.
They are then fried until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
Mozerella sticks are often served with a marinara sauce to dip them into.
There are plenty of other options for what you can serve mozzarella sticks with. What is your favorite?
Sports Bar Foods To Go With Mozzarella Sticks
One of my favorites to go with tasty mozzarella sticks is the type of food you get at a sports bar.
Chips and dip, chicken wings, burgers, chicken nuggets, nachos, potato skins, onion rings, loaded fries, and tater tots.
At sports bars, you often find a ranch dip right next to the mozzarella sticks.
If you would like to put on a classy presentation, consider serving mozzarella sticks with fresh tomato and fresh basil on your ranch dip.
Chinese Plum Sauce With Mozerella
Plum sauce is sweet, smooth with a little tart. It has traditional Chinese herbs and spices added and offers a complex flavor that your taste buds are going to love.
Plum sauce is versatile and works well with stir fry, glazes, and even mozzarella sticks.
Does Honey Mustard Go With Cheese?
When you want something more savory to go with the cheese sticks, mustard works well. Mustard has the ability to cut through the fat flavors.
For this, the classic Dijon mustard is a good idea, but grey poupon works well too.
Cheese and mustard go well together and makes the perfect dipping sauce for cheese sticks.
Old Fashioned Tomato Sauce
Tomato sauce is an old traditional choice for cheese sticks. Ketchup is tangy but still sweet enough to work with anything.
Ketchup goes well with fatty food and is often served with both hot and cold food. Ketchup has many ingredients added, such as onions, cloves, garlic, mustard, sugar, vinegar, and ginger.
A small bowl with ketchup added and placed next to the mozzarella sticks is all you need.
Does Wine Go Well With Cheese Sticks
Deep-fried or over-baked mozzarella sticks can be enjoyed with an appealing wine.
You don’t want a full-hearted wine for just appetizers, but something like Orin Swift Palermo works.
This wine has a ripe black cherry and peppery taste with an intense mouthful that is a perfect match for your cheezy tasting sticks.
The good thing with wine is the fact you don’t need dipping sauces or even marinara sauce.
The wine and cheese sticks are all you need. If you want to enjoy the cheese sticks with a marinara sauce, you can choose a wine to pair with, such as Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is a classic wine that works with red meat, cheeses, and sauces like marinara.
Can I Bake Mozzarella sticks
Mozzarella sticks don’t need to be fried they can also be baked in the oven.
The only problem with this is you have to be sure to monitor it closely and not forget they are in the oven.
Once the sticks overcook they will just be white blobs that taste and feel like rubber
The Ingredients:
You will need ¼ cup water
2 beaten eggs
1-1/2 cups breadcrumbs seasoned
Garlic salt
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of cornstarch
Oil to deep fry in
1 pack of mozzarella sticks
The first step is to mix the eggs and water together in a bowl. Now mix the breadcrumbs and garlic together in a separate bowl.
The next part is to blend your cornstarch and the flour. In a saucepan, you can heat the oil up to around 365 degrees F (185 C).
Get your cheese sticks and coat each one in the flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, then breadcrumbs, and lastly into the hot oil.
These will need to be fried for about 30 seconds or until they are golden brown all over.
Once you remove them from the oil, you need to drain the oil off using a paper towel.
Baked mozzarella sticks are not all that healthy, too, so if you prefer them fried, then go for it.
They are easier to keep an eye on, and when using oil, you get a better flavor and outer skin.
Conclusion
There is no right or wrong for what you can serve with mozzarella sticks.
From things like a good wine to something more filling like a salad. You can even enjoy fried mozzarella sticks with other fried entrée finger foods.
Paired with a good quality dipping sauce, nice wine, and good friends, what could be better.
