How to Make Coffee Ice Cream at Home – With 4 Ingredients!

Today I will show you how to make coffee ice cream at home. You won’t need a dedicated ice cream maker using a compressor. A regular kitchen machine with an extension for ice cream making is sufficient.

I am using my Bosch Mum 5 kitchen machine and bought the Bosch Ice Cream Maker for this purpose.

To make coffee ice cream:

  • Prepare 1.25 cups of coffee using a coffee maker
  • Measure 1.4 oz of sugar
  • Use 0.85 cups of heavy cream
  • Add a pinch of salt

  • Coffee – 1.25 cups
  • Heavy Cream – 0.85 cups
  • Sugar – 1.4 oz
  • Salt – One pinch

This will result in 0.5 quarts of coffee ice cream.

  • Start by making coffee as you would make coffee for drinking. I am using my espresso machine and must press four times to get to 1.25 cups of coffee.

  • Measure the heavy cream so you get 0.85 cups. I am using a measuring cup to get the exact amount. What works great are protein powder shakers. We have these always available at home.

  • Measure 1.4oz of sugar using a kitchen balance. You can use more or less sugar. Some recipes even use vanilla instead of sugar.

  • Add the coffee, the heavy cream, and the sugar into a cup that you can store in the fridge.

  • Then add a pinch of salt.

  • Lastly, mix everything so the sugar and the other ingredients are dissolved. You can mix by hand, a mixer or machine is unnecessary for this step.

  • Put the mixed liquid into the fridge. I let it sit for 8-12 hours as I want the liquid to be as cold as possible before pouring it into the ice cream maker.

  • Now, set up your kitchen machine and attach the ice cream maker.

  • Start the ice cream maker. I set the Bosch 5 ice cream maker to level 1. This is the recommended setting, as pouring in the liquid when the ice cream maker is not running might damage it.

  • Pour in the coffee ice cream liquid and let the machine run for 30-45 minutes on setting 1 (Bosch Mum 5).

  • After 30 to 45 minutes, the ice cream is ready. Take it out once it has the consistency you are aiming for. Voila, your homemade coffee ice cream is ready.
